National Women in Marble Association

The "Women of Marble" Association, during the 42nd edition of MARMOMACC, will organise an event discussing the BEAUTY OF MARBLE, a characteristic that has always guided the choice of stone products. Women are now in the forefront of the stone industry … and marble and the female world joined forces in 2006 through the Women in Marble Association. The choice of the name “marble” is significant: the term is used in its "ancient" meaning to include any rock quarried, processed and used in a wide variety of applications, from monuments to everyday products. Women play a detailed and complex role in this field and are involved in various stages of production, application and conservation spheres. The convention will first and foremost illustrate the historic and contemporary use of stones, followed by a detailed petrographic definition of the origins of stone colours and, lastly, analysis of consumer trends, fashion and other selection criteria by users - with a special focus on "women" and their primary role in choosing "marbles" for their homes.
