The International Award Architecture in Stone 2009, promoted by Veronafiere as part of the scientific-cultural events of the 44th Marmomacc Fair, has now come to its eleventh edition.
This Award, instituted in 1987, is now one of the world’s most prestigious recognitions for architectural works which are important international examples for significant and technical-expressive quality in their use of stone. The International Award Architecture in Stone 2009 is the high point in dialogue that has been developing, over many years, between the world’s architects and the marble-stone business sector.

The Jury, meeting on March, 2nd 2009 and selecting from a panorama of approximately thirty architectural works built in the last two-three years, chose to award, as the best international achievements in use of stone materials, the following works (in order of construction):

As in preceding editions the form of the award consists of publication of a prestigious volume containing full documentation of the award-winning works, completed by critical and historical essays by eminent personalities in the architectural world.
The International Award Architecture in Stone will be, during the 44th MARMOMACC Fair, at the center of the program of cultural events for “Marble Architecture Design” and will be articulated in two events:
September, 30th- October, 3rd 2009: Exhibition of award-winning works organized at the Verona Fairgrounds (Pav. 7bis) together with other exhibits of architecture and design. The exhibition is composed of drawings, photographs, models, videos and the stone materials employed in the works.
Saturday, October, 3rd2009: official awards ceremony taking place on the Castelvecchio Museum in the presence of Dignitaries, the authors of the award-winning works, their clients, the Jury and a qualified public of architects, authorities from the world of culture and businessmen from the world of marble.
