Hybrid and Flexible
One of the main items in the cultural programme of the 44th edition of the exhibition scheduled in Verona 30 September - 3 October.

“Marmomacc Meets Design” this year welcomes its third edition and its objective is the development of projects using marbles and stones in collaboration with a selected group of companies alongside designers and architects well-known on an international scale, who will exploit the technological knowhow of these companies.

Marmomacc Meets Design aims to bring together professionals, designers and companies in the natural stone sector through ideas intended to launch an important approach to the material used, exploiting new agility to help further improve many applications.

From “The lightness of marble”:” in 2007: a challenge to the gravity and nature of stone, to “Skin, Texture” in 2008: astonishing tactile quality and unexpected visual aspects, the topic for 2009 is “Hybrid and Flexible”.
The research keys of the new topic for Marmomacc Meets Design develop concepts such as hybridation, flexibility, contamination, mutation, metamorphosis and transformation.
The intention of this project is to merge materials, production processes, aesthetics, blend the mutability and metamorphosis of forms and styles and embrace the transformation of cultural and creative processes.
Such crossways approaches are acknowledged here as true moments in development, where design achieves a new synthesis between mechanical processes, technology, languages and attitudes.
The theme of flexibility also intersects with the topic of sustainability as a warranty for better investment of resources.
Predispositions for technological and innovative solutions help reduce overheads in transformation work.

The objective of Marmomacc is to support at every edition of the exhibition a group of companies that undertake, with reference to common regulations, to develop a work or experimental technique involving the theme proposed and discussed by the matrix of the project.

This third appointment is supported by thirteen leading companies in the sector and thirteen Italian and international designer and architects sharing professional and cultural dedication of the highest level.
