Veronafiere, A Continuing Education Provider:
Veronafiere has been an American Institute of Architects (AIA) CES provider since 1999. Since 2003, it has also been recognized as a provider by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC). In 2008 Veronafiere become official provider of AIA Australia (Australia Institute of Architects) and in 2009 of South African Institute of Architects (SAIA).
Over the past ten years, over 300 architects from all over the world have participated in “Designing With Natural Stone.”

Veronafiere offers this course to help architects learn advanced techniques in the use of marble, granite and other stone materials. The program is a unique combination of classroom lectures, guided architectural tours, and field trips to nearby quarries, as well as to natural stone processing facilities. This comprehensive approach helps architects to better understand the “full cycle” -- including how marble is quarried, cut, processed, finished, selected for specific jobs and installed, using the latest technologies and products.

Selection Criteria for Participants:
- you must be an architect;
- you must provide a curriculum vitae in English and several photos of completed or current projects;
- you must speak English; and
- you must be a member of one of the following national architectural associations: AIA, RAIC, RIBA, RAIA or the equivalent national associations in India and South Africa.


Course Duration and Contents:
The 2009 course will include visits to a Breccia Pernice quarry and Palladian architectural works in Vicenza, as well as an architectural tour of Verona. Participants will earn about 20 AIA/CES learning-unit hours. Many classes also count as HSW credits, and five as new AIA Sustainable Design credits.

Participants should plan to arrive on the 28th of September and may leave on the 3rd of October. The course will be taught in English. The registration fee is USD 450. Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses.


Group Composition:
The course is limited to 30 architects, 10 from the US and others from Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa, India and New Zeland.


Faculty:
The 2009 course will be led by Vince Marazita. Mr. Marazita is a member of the CSI (Construction Specifications Institute - USA) and the MIA (Marble Institute of America). He is the President of Marazita & Associates, an international consulting firm specializing in market research and the organization of educational seminars on the natural stone industry. Individual sessions will be taught by a variety of speakers from Italy, the U.S., the U.K. and Canada.
