Forum Stone 2011 is intended for international and Italian clients of Veronese natural stone companies. The first edition of this event, organised by the Asmave and Val di Pan consortia in collaboration with Centro Servizi Marmi in Volargne, is scheduled Thursday 12-Saturday 14 May. The event, which will be held every year, also involves the collaboration of the Valpolicella Wine Route in ever-closer synergy between the worlds of marble and wine. The three-day event opens on Thursday 12 May at 17.00 in the Zanotto Hall of Villa Bassani in Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella with institutional welcome addresses. This will be followed by the election of the "Knights of Recioto" organised by Snodar. The morning of Friday 13 May envisages a visit to the Bonaldi quarry near Monte and tastings of wines offered by the Valpolicella Wine Route. In afternoon at 15.30, Villa Bassani will host a forum held by Mapei titled "The Installation of Natural Stone"; speakers will include engineer Mauer, Mapei's technical assistance manager in Germany. The evening will see the announcement of new "Masters of Stone". The morning of Saturday 14 May sees Villa Arvedi in Grezzana host a conference titled "Protagonists of Stone Architecture: Jan Kleihues" presented by architect Jan Kleihues with an introduction and presentation by architect Vincenzo Pavan, the curator of Architecture Events at Marmomacc, in collaboration with the Order of Architects of the Province of Verona and VeronaFiere-Marmomacc.
"The idea of organising a three-day event of this kind," explained the President of Asmave, Leonello Zenatelli, "emerged from the need to re-focus attention on our sector within the scope of territorial valorisation. The intention is to turn this event into an annual appointment alongside religious occasions that involve a few days of vacation in Europe. This helps combine interest in meetings between operators, designers, architects and selected clientele with the pleasure of a visit to Verona which, from the city itself to Lake Garda and Valpolicella, offers a variegated and unique wine, food and tourism panorama." Filiberto Semenzin, President of Centro Servizi Marmo in Volargne and reference for the Veneto Marble and Natural Stone District, added: "The Forum was set in motion by entrepreneurs, demonstrating a proactive attitude that will certainly generate the recovery that the sector has been chasing from some time. Collaboration by Banca Popolare di Verona, Verona Chamber of Commerce and VeronaFiere-Marmomacc - as well as the patronage of the Province of Verona - confirms and consolidates a full-scale task force for our companies. Made in Verona can and must resume its role in the forefront of a recovery that, admittedly slow, will ensure rewards after so many sacrifices."
